Scientific name: Phrynosoma coronatum
The California Coast Horned Lizard has the unique distinction of only existing along the Pacific coast in California and southward across the peninsula of Baja California in Mexico. As far as scarcity is concerned, this species is the second most difficult to find in the United States and all but killed off in the northern reaches of California.
